If you’re picturing a typical vendor fair with a few tables and some snacks, you’re way off. This year’s 420 on Front Street is going full send.
Hosted by local brands Carbon Cannabis and Sensi, the third annual event is transforming the La Crosse Center into what organizers are calling a “choose-your-own-adventure surreal garden”—and honestly, that might be underselling it.
“We wanted to create something you normally only see in bigger cities,” said Natalia, marketing director for Sensi and Carbon. “When you walk in, it’s going to feel like stepping into a completely different world.”
Forget standing around awkwardly holding a drink.
This event leans hard into immersive experiences—think Alice in Wonderland vibes, but make it cannabis.
“You’re going to walk in and it’s completely reimagined as a garden,” Natalia said. “Different spaces, different worlds, different experiences.”
Yes, there will still be vendors (support local, always), but the focus has shifted to interaction:
One of the most unique features this year? A terpene-based sensory activation that flips the script on how people choose cannabis.
“We’re doing an ‘explore by aroma’ experience,” said Stephanie, creative director and co-founder. “You’ll go into a dark tent, put on an eye mask and headphones, and smell different strains.”
The idea is simple—but kind of genius.
“The strains that smell best to you are actually what your body needs most,” she explained.
So instead of guessing? Your nose decides. Honestly… probably more reliable than your last situationship.
Let’s get to the real headline.
There will be adoptable puppies walking around the event. Partnering with the Coulee Region Humane Society, organizers are bringing in rotating groups of dogs throughout the event.
“What makes people feel good?” Stephanie said. “We thought—puppies. Obviously.”
Attendees can cuddle, connect—and maybe even go home with a new best friend. Also, scientifically speaking, petting dogs boosts oxytocin. So yes, this is technically self-care.
No one’s leaving hungry.
Expect a lineup of local favorites, including:
“We wanted everything to feel intentional,” Natalia said. “Even the food is part of the experience.”
Here’s where things get real. This event isn’t just about having a good time—it’s also about supporting a local industry facing an uncertain future.
“There’s a possibility that a lot of these products could be taken off shelves by November,” Natalia said. “This could be our last 420 event like this.”
That includes not just THC products, but CBD and other plant-based alternatives many people rely on.
“It’s not just about business,” she added. “It’s about accessibility, affordability, and giving people options.”
One thing that came through loud and clear in the interview: this isn’t some corporate drop-in event.
“We are 100% local,” Stephanie said. “Everything stays within La Crosse.”
From vendors to partnerships to event design—this is a community-first effort. Even the immersive setup is being brought to life by local event planner Grimzlow Events, helping transform the space into something you won’t forget.
Short answer: yeah.
Long answer: if you like unique experiences, supporting local businesses, trying something new, or petting puppies while slightly vibing—you should absolutely go.
Because worst case scenario?
You eat good food, take a cool photo, pet a dog, and leave happier than you walked in.
Best case?
You experience something La Crosse doesn’t usually get—and might not get again.
