LA CROSSE, Wis. — The Bluff Country Tale Spinners will return to the Pump House Regional Arts Center this fall with an evening of eerie tales designed to rattle nerves and spark imaginations.

The troupe presents Tales of the Creepy and Scary on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Pump House, 119 King St. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the program begins at 7 p.m.

For centuries, people have whispered ghost stories by firelight and shared them across generations. These tales offered warnings, taught lessons and provided late-night entertainment. Today, the Pump House event carries on that tradition. Audiences will lean in close as storytellers spin narratives that blur the line between the ordinary and the uncanny.

Organizers highlight a program filled with unsettling encounters and sounds, like creaking floorboards, that make familiar spaces feel suddenly strange. Because of the suspenseful nature of the stories, the evening suits teens and adults eager for seasonal chills.

“Who doesn’t love a good scary story?” the Pump House said in its announcement. “Join us for an evening of stories, some new and some old favorites. The tellers will get you in the mood for Halloween.”

Tickets cost $20 for general admission and $15 for students and military members, plus fees. You can purchase them through the Pump House box office, by calling 608-785-1434, or online at www.thepumphouse.org.
