Food Drive Fridays La Crosse: Help Fight Hunger

Food Drive Fridays La Crosse Cardboard boxes filled with canned goods, boxed pasta, and other non-perishable food items collected for a food drive.

LA CROSSE, Wis. – The Hunger Task Force of La Crosse, in collaboration with local Rotary Clubs, United Way, Mid-West Family La Crosse, and WKBT News 8 Now, is once again calling on the community to help feed our neighbors in need through Food Drive Fridays. This year’s food collection campaign kicks off July 11, continuing on July 18 and July 24, with drop-off locations open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Above all, the summer drive aims to replenish dangerously low shelves at the Hunger Task Force warehouse, supporting more than 120 food programs across the region. Inflation and fluctuating funding levels have made it harder than ever to meet increasing demand for food assistance. Inspired by the community-driven efforts of the original 2020 campaign, organizers are urging area residents to rally once more in a tradition of neighbors helping neighbors.

Donation Drop Off Locations:

  • Hy-Vee parking lot, La Crosse
  • Old Kmart parking lot, La Crosse

“We’re seeing higher need and lower inventory,” said Cedric Friesen, vice president of business development at Mid-West Family La Crosse and Hunger Task Force board member. “Food Drive Fridays give people a direct and meaningful way to help. Every can of soup or box of cereal really does make a difference.”

Most Needed Items Include:

  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken)
  • Peanut butter
  • Soup and canned ravioli
  • Boxed sides (rice, potatoes, stuffing)
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Breakfast items (cereal, oatmeal)
  • Canned fruits and SpaghettiOs

Mid-West Family La Crosse is a proud sponsor of the event. Around River City.com, a Mid-West Family company, is helping raise awareness across the Seven Rivers Region.

All donations will be distributed by the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse to its partner agencies. Monetary donations are also welcome and can help the organization purchase food in bulk.
