Mighty River Art Studio Tour, A Weekend to Wander in La Crosse

Oil painting by Colleen Shore showing a verdant Mississippi River bluff, with layered green foliage in the foreground, a winding blue river below, and hazy hills stretching into the distance.

This September, the Mighty Mississippi won’t be the only thing meandering through the Greater La Crosse area. The Mighty River Art Studio Tour will carry you into a weekend of color, creativity, and community on Sept. 13 and 14, 2025.

In this inaugural first year, we invite you to enjoy the talents of local artists from Stoddard to Galesville, all along the Mississippi River Valley. The tour is self-guided, meanwhile letting you move at your own pace while visiting home studios, riverside galleries, and shared creative spaces for artists whose studios are not open to the public.

This is more than a walk through art spaces, it’s a celebration of imagination. Many of the participating artists will welcome you into their personal workspaces. Visitors can have real conversations with artists and an opportunity to ask about their process and inspiration. Who knows, you may even commission your own custom piece. It’s art with a handshake, not just a price tag.

So bring your curiosity and a fellow art adventurer who loves a scenic drive.
