St. Paddy’s Day .01K Returns for 21st Year in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. — The St. Paddy’s Day .01K returns this March, giving the La Crosse community another reason to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with laughter, costumes and a good cause.

Now in its 21st year, the 32.8-foot run or walk started as a fundraiser by 95.7 The Rock. Since then, it has grown into a popular local tradition that welcomes anyone who wants to participate. You do not need to be fast, athletic or even coordinated to take part.

Instead, the event focuses on fun. Many participants wear green, dress in costume or gather with friends before the short course begins. Some run. Others walk. A few barely break a sweat. However they finish, everyone takes part for the same reason.

Meanwhile, proceeds support the Hunger Task Force of La Crosse, which continues to see more people turning to food pantries and meal programs. The organization works with 128 partner agencies across seven counties in western Wisconsin, southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa.

Last year, hundreds gathered downtown to celebrate, laugh and raise money for hunger relief. As a result, the .01K once again proved that even a very short race can make a real difference.

For those looking for a simple way to give back while having fun, the St. Paddy’s Day .01K offers exactly that.
